Round Table

Membership of Basildon Round Table is open to all men aged between 18 and 45, and who either live or work in the Basildon area.

The organisation is non-political, non-religious, open to all professions, regardless of marital status. There are no passwords and funny handshakes - everything is open and anyone is welcome to come along to our meetings as a guest.

What's it all about?

  • Trying new activities and sports.
  • Meeting new people and networking.
  • Sharing varied and new experiences.
  • Enjoy helping your local community.
  • Most of all, having a good time.

What do I get out of it?

  • The potential for a great time.
  • Self development by improving your personal and business skills.
  • Events for all the family.
  • Experiences you might otherwise completely miss out on.
  • The more time and effort (not money) you put in, the more you will benefit.

Who joins and why?

The members of Basildon Round Table come from all walks of life and join for a variety of reasons - perhaps as a gateway to relaxation and to enjoyment, or as a way of participating in the local community. It is also an ideal way for those who have moved into a new area to find new friends of a similar age.

Membership of Round Table helps to create confidence and character. The individual learns quickly to mix and 'have-a-go' at helping to organise and run meetings and events. The organisation is run by and for Tablers as a hobby.

But I'm a lady!

Round Table is currently only open to men. This is a part of the character of the organisation and allows us to create a programme of "boys nights out" that appeals to our members. Our programme also includes many events that involve our partners and families, because the club would fail without their support.

That doesn't mean that women need miss out on the opportunities that Round Table has to offer. Our sister club, Ladies' Circle, is built around the same principles but is restricted to women. Our organisations work closely together to support each other. You can find out more about Ladies' Circle here, or feel free to contact us for more information.

Is it just a club to help charities?

No! The main reason we get together is to meet like-minded people, make new friends and have fun.

Why should I consider joining?

Because it is a thoroughly entertaining and personally rewarding hobby that brings you into contact with many like-minded individuals.

What about the costs and commitment involved?

There is a £10 per month subscription fee. The only other costs are the events that you attend.

All members are expected to regularly attend the twice monthly meetings (see the diary section for a sample of what we get up to), and to support and participate in as many of the other activities as possible.

As with any hobby, the more you put in the more you get out. This is the challenge of Basildon Round Table!

What if I move away from the Basildon area?

This is where being a member of Round Table really pays off.

If you move elsewhere there will be a Round Table club close by. Once a member of Round Table, always a member. If you find yourself in an unfamiliar town, city or even country then there will be a group of friends waiting to welcome you, all you have to do is phone them and say that you've moved in. You then simply transfer from your old Table to the new one.

How do I join?

The best way to start is to come along to one of our meetings, meet our members, and find out more.

After attending as a guest for a time, potential members are invited to join.

You can find out what we're up to in the diary section.
